October Happenings

You can tell it's October around here.

Mommy and Daddy made it to CU's homecoming football game, which happened to be the 50th anniversary of their mascot, Ralphie. That was a fun game, and the Buffs even won!

The girls carved their pumpkin!

And we got a fun visit in with Aunt Betsy and Uncle Butch, who were in town for a quick visit!

Happy birthday, Daddy!

We love you so much!

And while the girls were at school, daddy took the day off from work and we went and found a pretty spectacular birthday present. One step closer to making a dream coming true.

Happy birthday, Sabine!

Sabine turned 8 years old this year. The morning started off with daddy's homemade chocolate cupcakes for breakfast, pink roses (per request), and a new iPod for her Taylor Swift songs and Harry Potter audio books!

This year, Sabine requested a formal family birthday party. So this weekend, everyone showed up in nice clothes, we took some professional family pictures,

and then got to the important part, crepes for lunch

and a Barbie cake for dessert!

Sabine designed the cake herself, she wanted a beach theme, with water and sand and a lemon cake inside with vanilla frosting. The bakery really delivered! It was delicious as it was beautiful!

Grandmom and Grandpa surprised Sabine with a much-coveted canopy bed for her dollhouse,

and there is an upcoming trip to Toys R Us with Nana, and a mani/pedi trip with Aunt Dani.

In other news, we had our parent-teacher conference with Sabine's teacher this week, and she had wonderful feedback. It sounds like Sabine is right on track academically, and she and her teacher have a special bond. Her teacher is impressed with how tidy and organized she keeps her desk, and thinks she has a wonderful fashion sense, among other things.

We couldn't agree more. Sabine is a special kid. She surprises us daily with what she's able to do, make herself lunch, teach her sister to meditate when she's in a bad mood, add big numbers like 36 + 75 in her head, and befriending new kids in school. Sabine is still tall and mature for her age, and she still loves swimming, skiing, Christmas music, Harry Potter, babysitters, and spending as much time as possible with her friends.

Fall at the Farm

October has so far brought us lots of excuses to be outdoors, enjoying the local farms, zoos, and of course, friends and family.

Kitsons

In other news, the girls schedules are getting busier. Both girls are doing swimming lessons, Sabine has started Brownies (mom is one of the troop's leaders!), and piano lessons. We had Aspen's parent/teacher conference the other night, and she appears to be loving school. Her teachers seem to really enjoy her, and say she is well-adjusted, good at making friends, and trying new activities.
