We went on a hike all together,

and while Sabine takes to a trail like a pro, now

the real surprise was Aspen, who was not-so-happy in the carrier, and insisted on hiking, herself.

There was time for a couple (skinny) dips in the hot tub for all the kiddos except Aspen.

And one unfortunate ER visit in the middle of the night, when Aspen caught Sabine's croup-y virus and needed some medicine. Fortunately, the Summit County hospital was not very busy, and we were in and out in less than an hour. (Aspen was uninterested in having her picture taken, fairly enough. But the advantage of staying in a house full of friends meant we didn't have to wake Sabine up, and both mommy and daddy got to take Aspen in.)

Still, we were all quite tired by Monday morning, and both girls were a bit under the weather. We had a some rain, but also a rainbow to escort us out of the mountains, and it seemed like a good metaphor for the weekend. (It's faint, but kind of cuts down through Buffalo Mountain in front, there.)

Fortunately, we had the perfect pit-stop for some tired and sick girls on the way home.

A visit to Grandmom and Grandpa's house is never complete without running the trains!

All in all, a full and fun Labor Day weekend!
