Sabine recovered from her virus just in time to start swim lessons! She went every day last week, and had a marvelous time. Right now, when you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she says, "Swim teacher!" I was wondering if that would change once she actually was in lessons, but if anything she has only become more passionate.
She can already float on her own, as well as dunk her head under water.
We're now starting week two of the daily lessons, and then we'll slow down to once a week.
The other big news is, we learned Sabine will be a big sister...to a little sister! We had our scan last Thursday, when I was 19 weeks and 1 day along. Little sister cooperated, and the ultrasound technician was quite confident she was a girl. Sabine is thrilled. She had said she didn't care if it was a boy or girl, she'd love the baby either way, which I thought was a very grown-up reaction, but she admitted the morning of the ultrasound she thought it was a girl. When we found out, she was kind of blase, all, "I KNEW it was a girl."
The rest of the ultrasound showed the baby is measuring on time and looks as healthy as can be, which was wonderful news. Her profile is very similar to Sabine's, I think.
We may name her Smiley.

Weekend Warriors
A quick recap of the past few weekends:
Grandmom and Grandpa came to stay with Sabine while mommy and daddy flew out to California for a quick trip to southern California for a wedding. They squeezed in a visit to Tiny Town and rode the train:
And then, of course, explored the tiny town.
We then spent the next weekend up in Breckenridge with some friends while it rained continuously on the front range. It was a nice, relaxing weekend for us, and special thanks to Nana for checking on our cats and house to make sure it wasn't flooding while we were gone! (We really lucked out, we didn't have any damage, but it was quite a week. There is still a huge clean up effort here in Colorado. I have never seen rain like that before.)
Unfortunately, Sabine started acting a little under the weather at the end of the trip, and by Monday (a week ago) she had come down with full-blown croup (as had, apparently, half her preschool.) So we spent the rest of the week doing variations on this:
Fortunately, this week was much more exciting, but I will save that for the next post!

First Day of Preschool
Sabine's first day of preschool was yesterday, Tuesday, September 3.
The outside may not be much to look at, but inside the classrooms are bright and colorful and filled with activities, the teachers are great, and the other kids all seem to get along well.
Sabine was actually a little disappointed to learn that it was the same place with the same people that she went to for camp. I think she was expecting something new. But it did make the transition easy, she immediately got down to business drawing in her notebook, sitting next to her buddy W, who happens to also go to her farm school, and was too busy to say goodbye when I left.
Apparently they also made play dough, ate a parent-provided snack, played outside, did a puzzle, and read books. Sabine buddied up again with another little girl that she became close to during her week at camp, and it sounds like they more or less stuck together all day. It was a very successful first day!
