Sabine turned 8 years old this year. The morning started off with daddy's homemade chocolate cupcakes for breakfast, pink roses (per request), and a new iPod for her Taylor Swift songs and Harry Potter audio books!
This year, Sabine requested a formal family birthday party. So this weekend, everyone showed up in nice clothes, we took some professional family pictures,
and then got to the important part, crepes for lunch
and then got to the important part, crepes for lunch
Sabine designed the cake herself, she wanted a beach theme, with water and sand and a lemon cake inside with vanilla frosting. The bakery really delivered! It was delicious as it was beautiful!
and there is an upcoming trip to Toys R Us with Nana, and a mani/pedi trip with Aunt Dani.
In other news, we had our parent-teacher conference with Sabine's teacher this week, and she had wonderful feedback. It sounds like Sabine is right on track academically, and she and her teacher have a special bond. Her teacher is impressed with how tidy and organized she keeps her desk, and thinks she has a wonderful fashion sense, among other things.
We couldn't agree more. Sabine is a special kid. She surprises us daily with what she's able to do, make herself lunch, teach her sister to meditate when she's in a bad mood, add big numbers like 36 + 75 in her head, and befriending new kids in school. Sabine is still tall and mature for her age, and she still loves swimming, skiing, Christmas music, Harry Potter, babysitters, and spending as much time as possible with her friends.
