Sabine got quite the haul for Christmas, especially considering she's not even really aware of the holiday yet!
We had a wonderful Christmas day, starting out with Christmas morning at our house.
The White, Kitson, and Sauser families were all represented.
Then we all headed up to Longmont to have an early Christmas dinner with the Kinlund side of the family.
Sabine kept it together the whole day, we were so impressed. But she fell apart when we got home, and we put her to bed at 6:30. (She's usually going down between 8:00 and 9:00 these days.) The pacifier rolled out of her mouth as I laid her down, and in the time it took me to scramble to retreive it, she was sound asleep. I didn't even need to re-insert it!
Hope you all had a merry Christmas, too!

Nine Weeks
Sabine turned nine weeks old today, and two months old on Saturday. In some ways I am astounded by how quickly the time is going...in other ways it's hard to remember a life before Sabine.
We went to the pediatrician today for her two month well baby visit and vaccines. Sabine weighed in at 10 lbs 3 oz, and she was 22 inches long. That puts her in the 31st percentile for weight and the 34th percentile for length. So she's a little on the small side, but well within normal ranges. Her head's circumference was in the 49th percentile, clearly housing a very large brain.
To commemorate the two month mark, I finally got a picture of the elusive smile over the weekend.
We're all looking forward to a short week this week! Happy holidays!

Outtakes
We're slowly getting in the holiday mood around here. We are trying to put together Christmas cards, and we did a couple of photo shoots to try and get a decent picture of Sabine. She refused to smile for a single shot, despite many handstands and dances from her parents...so the mood we're going for is Very Serious Joy, if you are wondering when you receive a card from us, assuming we actually manage to get them mailed out.
In the meantime, here are a few of the pictures that didn't make the cut. And while Sabine refused to smile, we are certainly getting a kick out of these.

Falling Baby
I think my Mom of the Year chances dropped drastically when I took a picture of my precious child tipping over instead of rescuing her. For what it's worth, she didn't seem to really notice. And she doesn't seem any worse for wear.
Smile photo still pending.

Smile
Sabine has really started smiling a lot recently, although it's been very hard to capture in a picture.
She mostly responds to big facial expressions and high-pitched squeals, (we will do anything for those smiles) so it's been tricky to coordinate focusing a camera while doing said expressions and squealing. Add to that she's usually in her swing, which is swinging back and forth, and it makes for some not-quite-centered and usually unfocused pictures. We're slowly learning to multi-task.
The wide open-mouthed grin remains elusive.

Week 7
Just a couple of quick shots to show off Sabine’s train pajamas from Grandpa.
The fleece ones have been really nice to have since we are getting yet another snowstorm.
And while we’ve gotten several gifts for Sabine over the past several weeks, Sugar is also feeling like she’s getting something out of it since she's a big fan of tissue paper.

Sabine Sourse v. 2.0
Just a quick update to say, you may have noticed the format here has changed. The pink was nice, but that particular template was chopping off the edges of my pictures. So while my vastly more technologically-competent brother was here visiting, I got him to help me create a new template that would accomodate my pictures. I think it looks a little cleaner, too.
I also had him carry many boxes and assemble bookshelves. Clearly that should be what he wants to do on his vacation, right?
Sabine has also made another step forward with her motor skills. She discovered she could suck her thumb after a particularly terrible (well, they're all terrible according to her) bath. Dustin and I weren't sure whether to encourage it or not, but it was really cute, in a very pathetic, upset baby kind of way. I didn't manage to get a picture, but I will keep trying.
