Touch-a-Truck

We've had the chance to spend a little more time with the girls' cousins, recently.

First, at Touch-a-Truck, where they all had a great time climbing in and out of the fire truck

and the ambulance

and getting to use the fire house with a real fireman!

They all had a good time putting the "fire" out of the wood building.

And they even got to climb on/in a snow plow!

Complete with hat:

But eventually the heat got the better of us, so we called it a day and headed back.

Summer is definitely here!

Summer Fun and First Haircuts

We enjoyed our first week of summer vacation immensely! We were all ready for the change of pace, I think.

IMG_2507

We've spent lots of time with friends,

IMG_2490

we made it to the Louisville Farmers' Market,

IMG_2488

we went downtown and met daddy for lunch

IMG_2508

(first stopping to check out his office)

IMG_2509

and then going out to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. (AKA the Brown Bread Restaurant, depending on whom you ask!)

And in other exciting news, Aspen got her first haircut! Sabine went first, to show her how it was done.

IMG_2530

Aspen was underwhelmed, but between the lollipop, mommy's lap, and other distractions, we managed to at least even out the back.

And suddenly, they both look so much older.

Albuquerque in the House!

Mommy and Daddy's good friend from college came to visit, along with her family, as I mentioned in the last post.

E was a delight to have around for a couple of days, the girls vied over her attention; fortunately; she was very sweet with both of them. Extended sleepovers with good friends are awesome!

While Sabine was at her last day of school, we checked out the local favorite bakery, Moxie, all managing to squeeze into one car:

And then we went over to the playground by the lake, and ended up spending almost as much time exploring the lake and the pier as playing!

IMG_2447

Friday was Sabine's first official day of summer break, so we celebrated by taking our friends up to Sunflower Farm

IMG_2465

Where there were some brand-new baby cows

IMG_2463

and some bigger, big kid-cows

IMG_2466

along with the rest of the regular menagerie. Aspen has exactly no fear when it comes to feeding her beloved goats.

We had dinner with Grandmom and Grandpa

IMG_2475

and overall had an excellent time being together and just hanging out.

IMG_2480

Sabine even needed a little consoling after E left. Fortunately, Aspen was there for her.

Come back soon, guys, we miss you!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Summer

There've been signs summer is coming, aside from (and thanks in part to!) the slightly warmer weather.

Ice cream!

Picnics with neighbors

Watermelon appearing in the stores (and at more play dates)

IMG_2423
A trip to the garden store

IMG_2425
...where we got all the necessary materials for this year's fairy garden.

IMG_2428

And, most tellingly, Sabine's last day of Kindergarten. Fortunately we had some good friends visiting from New Mexico, and E was sweet enough to walk Sabine to the bus stop with Aspen.
