Last week was Sabine's spring break, so we took the opportunity to take a quick trip to New Mexico to visit some friends.
We left Wednesday afternoon, stopped and had dinner with Daddy in Denver (since he wasn't able to join us on this trip)
then made it to Colorado Springs, where we rented a Tiny House to spend the night! That was a fun adventure in and of itself.
That was fun, but we were up early the next morning to make it down to Albuquerque, four and half more hours away. The girls did amazingly well. Aspen watched
Moana and
Trolls on the iPad on repeat, and Sabine listened to
Harry Potter on her headphones, since she has started to struggle a little more with car sickness. Both girls did amazingly well, but we were all happy to get to New Mexico and see our friends, not to mention stretch our legs!
On Friday we went to the Botanic Gardens.
There was a model railroad with Thomas and a dinosaur train, which Aspen loved,
and a "bug-arium," which was a bit more intimidating.
But the girls seemed to most enjoy being outside
playing
running,
climbing,
exploring,
jumping,
and checking out the animals!
Saturday was rainy, so the girls played indoors most of the day and had some screen time
Aspen finally got a nap (something that is quickly disappearing from her world)
and we made a quick excursion to the mall, where they had a merry-go-round, just to get out and move a bit!
Sunday we left bright and early, to make the six and a half hour trek home. The sun was out, the girls did great, and we even powered through lunch, having sandwiches and snacks in the car, and only making a real stop when we finally made it back to Colorado Springs.
The girls got to experience Josh & John's, the ice cream shop from mommy and daddy's college days!
We made it home in time for dinner, and to see some friends and their new baby who were passing through!
